I've been thinking about my job a lot lately.
I've been working since I was 15 years old.
I started at Rest Haven Retirement Home
down in Holland in the food services dept.
I loved it there. I got to know what the
residents liked and disliked. I knew them
on a personal level...
I worked there for 5 years.
Then I moved to Muskegon and wanted a
different job. So I got a job at Michigan's
Adventure during the summer of '06.
It was fun at times, but it sucked at times too.
The managers treated everyone like 4 and 5
year olds. There was even one point during the
summer when I just wanted to walk off the
premise of the amusement park and call it quits.
But I didn't.
Then I search for a job for 5 months and finally landed
one at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. I loved that job.
The patients were friendly [at times.]. The staff was
friendly [at times]. The co-workers were friendly [at
times]. There were a few co-workers I couldn't stand
though. The co-workers that would laugh in your face
knowing you were doing something wrong, and they
wouldn't even help you fix it. Those were the co-workers
I cringed when I had to work with them.
I finally moved to Grand Rapids and moved in with my
Aunt Kate and her girls, Alex and Kelsey. It was one of the
best decisions ever!! I still worked at Hackley for 4 months.
I would drive from Grand Rapids to Muskegon to work for 4
hours and drive all the way back to Grand Rapids. Kinda
pathetic I know.
I finally quit working at Hackley in December of '07. I got a
new job doing the same type of thing only it was a lot closer to
home.
I got a job working at Metro Health on Byron Center Ave and
M-6 and I love it!! I love the new hospital [even though I've
never been to the old one.]. My co-workers are great [and they
do not laugh in your face when you do something wrong!]!! They
actually help you fix it. :-)
Yeah, so that's what I've done for the last 7 years of my "working
career".
Have a great day and be safe on the roads!! God bless!
